Mastermind Athletic Academy is based out of the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. With a primary house at an elevation of 5,700 feet, and a secondaryhouse at 6,250 feet, the academy is set in an ideal location for the endurance athlete. There are roads and trail systems that allow for moderate to high elevation training right from the doorstep of the academy’s house. A one hour radius by car further opens up an immense opportunity of training terrain.

More impressively, unlike most other moderate elevation locales such as those often heralded in Colorado, one can train with extreme intensity at elevations below 2,000 feet by taking a short 15 minute car ride down the mountain. The Pacific Ocean is in fact just 90 minutes away.
In addition to this, Southern California is home to some of the most moderate weather in all of the United States. Average temperatures rarely exceed 80F in the mountains during the summer and in the winter average temperatures at the base of the mountains is above 50F.
Our primary aim for 2010 is to help 18-25 year old cyclists, who believe they have the potential to race professionally, acquire the necessary fitness to contribute and get signed to a Division III or higher team by the 2012 season.
Our belief is that the power of the individual is greatly magnified when in a community of like-minded individuals; in this case, young cyclists who believe in themselves and have the common goal of racing professionally in the short term future. Along those lines, we have created an academy where these individuals can come together and commit to themselves and one another to take the best attributes from one another and become better cyclists and better people as a whole.
